About
Artificial intelligence in legal education and practice
Within a short time, artificial intelligence has ceased to be a question for the future and has become part of how law is taught, applied and practised. Students use it in their studies, courts and public authorities are testing it in their work, and lawyers rely on it in everyday tasks, often before any shared standards have been agreed. Research on these developments is growing, but it is largely carried out within separate disciplines and legal traditions, with limited exchange between academia and practice. The conference brings together scholars and practitioners from Poland and abroad to compare experience and to examine where generative AI tools help, where they create risk, and what standards their use requires.
Over two days, the programme combines plenary sessions, thematic panels and discussions. The event is addressed to legal scholars, doctoral researchers and students, and to judges, public officials and legal practitioners. Participation is free of charge and is possible in person at the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Warsaw, or online via live stream. Registration is required. After the conference, selected interviews, expert commentaries and session summaries will be published in open access on this website.

Conference themes
AI in legal education and research
If a Gen-AI tool can produce a plausible legal argument in seconds, what should a law degree certify? Speakers will address current debates on the acceptable use of AI in coursework and theses, on assessment that tests understanding rather than output, and on the competences graduates will need.
AI in courts and public administration
What role can AI play in the work of courts and public administration, and under what conditions? Speakers will compare national approaches and judicial guidelines, and the safeguards needed when automated tools support decision-making.
AI in legal practice
How are lawyers actually using Gen-AI tools, and where does professional responsibility lie? The discussion will cover current uses as well as the standards set by professional bodies and the risks of automating legal work.
